Maitreya Bahuuddeshiya Sevabhavi Sanstha’s G.K.S.College of Arts,Commerce and Science is a premier educational institution which has invited the attention of locally situated underprivileged youths of rural area in thane district. The main objective of the Maitreya Bahuuddeshiya Sevabhavi Sanstha is to provide education to unprivileged youth in villages. From the very beginning, Sanstha has laid its emphasis on the education for the poor students from the major bulk of the society.

Today Sanstha runs one senior college, and one Junior college which is the basic requirement in this area.Students from nearby villages enroll for further education after schooling.

Khadavali is a rural area in Kalyafron taluka of Thane district in Maharashtra .The majority of locality belongs to backward class ,scheduled caste and tribes. The college campus is over an area of 9100 Sq meter.

Institute provides quality higher education in Arts (BA), Commerce B.Com.(A&F), BMS and Science streams B.Sc.(CS) at Undergraduate Level affiliated to University of Mumbai,

The college is affiliated to University of Mumbai, and scrupulously follows the curricula prescribed by the University.

The college is offering 4 Undergraduates programs. All four programs follow the CBCS/elective curriculum since 2012.

Faculty representations in curriculum development committees, exam committees and other committees of the University and other colleges.
Preparation of academic calendar, departmental meetings, allotment of workload, preparation of time table, teachers diary, daily lesson notes, use of ICT tools, field projects, feedback mechanism are some of the tools implemented by the college for effective curriculum delivery.

Conducts seminars/workshops/symposium, guest lectures, faculty orientation programs etc. for effective teaching learning and faculty development.

Effective integration of cross-cutting issues relevant to Gender, Environment, Human Values, and Professional Ethics into the curriculum.

Apart from University curriculum, college organizes various activities/programs such as gender sensitivity programs, pre marriage and Women education counselling, Gram Swachata abhiyan, tree plantation etc. through NSS Unit.

Participation in different sports and cultural activities conducted by university and intercolleaeate competitions.

The structural feedback is collected from all the students on the curriculum and teaching feedback is then analyzed and discussed in the departmental meeting and corrective actions are being taken for the improvement.

Learning outcomes

Around 90 % of students are coming from Khadavali and neighbouring villages. Almost all Students are from vernacular medium and the language for communication is Marathi. For Bachelor of Arts the medium of instructions and examination is Marathi .But for other courses language is only English. Teachers have to take more efforts to teach in English for these courses.

Class teachers and mentor is allotted to each student which help them to study well.

Students are encouraged to participate in Science Project exhibitions sports and other activities .Expert lectures and remedial classes are conducted for the improvement of academic performance of students.

Necessary facilities are available for differently abled students (Divyangjan). Well functioning Parent Teacher Association (PTA) and counselling cell.
Various student-centric learning methods and tools such as fieldvisits, role-playing ICT enabled classrooms etc. for enhancing teaching learning processes.
